Mine Radio Systems (Africa) Pty Ltd. has been South Africa’s leading supplier of Advanced Integrated Communication and Safety solutions for confined space since 1996.  Originally based west of Pretoria, MRS Africa started out as a small operation working directly with the regions largest mining operations developing solutions necessary to their specific requirements. 

Since then, MRS Africa has doubled in size and moved to accommodate the growing needs of its valued customers. MRS Africa understands the importance of its communication and safety solutions for personnel working underground in the mining environment. These solutions, which are vital to mine operators, will increase the productivity, profitability and safety of their operations.

MRS Africa currently has successful communications and safety solution deployments in 8 African countries. Jaco Labuschagne - General Manager, MRS Africa

Jaco Labuschagne is the General Manager for MRS (Africa) Pty Ltd.  He is responsible forall MRS operations in Africa, including sales, customer service and market intelligence.

Based in Hermanstad, Pretoria, Mr. Labuschagne brings to his position 13 years of experience in the RF and radio communication field.  He is also a qualified CAA Avionics Technician. He joined MRS in 2007 as a technician and was appointed Technical Manager in 2008.

Bartek Rapacz - Systems Engineer

Bartek is the systems engineer at MRS Africa. He has been involved in the telemetry field since 2002 and professional software design and implementation since 2000. He has worked on various projects such as access controls, microwave backbones, plant automation as well as custom software packages in municipal, mining and industrial applications. He is currently responsible for special projects and IT system design for the African market.

Jay Cee Van Rensburg - Financial Manager

Jay Cee has been the Financial Manager for MRS Africa since early 2007and is responsible for all the Financial and Human Resource operations of the branch. Her 34 years of financial experience is a tremendous asset to the MRS Africa team.

Anton Pretorius - Sales Manager

Anton as been with MRS for 9 years and works within the South Africa and African market. Previously employed by Motorola, Anton brings extensive knowledge on Two-Way radios and systems and has worked in the Mining environment for a number of years.

Gerard Augustyn - Workshop Supervisor

Gerard is responsible for supervising all technicians and building, assembling, wiring, programming and testing of all standard and custom systems and applications. He also does on-site sales and participates in the planning and design of systems. He has over seven years experience in the Telecoms field as well as manufacturing plant mechanical/electrical technician and charge hand experience.

Rene E. Turner - Administrator

Rene has worked as the administrator for MRS Africa since 1998. Her responsibilities include overseeing distribution to customers, stock control and general administration functions.

Key appointment signals MRS commitment to expand sales in Africa

Jaco Labuschagne, a veteran Mine Radio Systems manager with extensive technical expertise, has been promoted to the position of General Manager, South Africa Ops, effective February 1, 2012.

Previously Technical Manager for MRS, Mr. Labuschagne will be responsible for sales, customer service and market intelligence in the African continent, a well established market for MRS with significant growth potential.  The company has already deployed in eight different countries (Mali, Zambia, Tanzania, Ghana, Angola, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Namibia) industry leading communications and safety solutions for companies involved in the coal, gold, platinum, manganese, diamond and iron ore sectors.

Responding to the expansion of the mining industry and growing customer demand for industry leading communications and safety solutions, Mine Radio Systems has expanded its senior management team with the addition of Steven Zakaib, who joins the company as Executive Vice President, Operations, effective Jan 23, 2012.
